Richard Ashcroft has concluded his first ever Australian tour on a sour note after storming off stage at Splendour In The Grass last night.
The former frontman of The Verve had received rave reviews for his tour thus far, but apparently not enough of a rave to draw a large crowd to his Sunday night set at the festival.
Ashcroft, who was touring as part of Richard Ashcroft and the United Nations of Sound, had been timetabled against the Pixies and Empire of the Sun which had an effect on the turn out to his stage.

According to reports, Ashcroft halted his performance mid-song and told those in the audience he may as well watch the Pixies instead of continue with his set.
He then left the stage after less than 15 minutes, entered a waiting car and did not return.
The walk off follows the cancellation of his headlining show in Perth, which was scheduled to take place this week.
