Music on Koffee. We have added a lot of your musical suggestions you've sent in over the last few weeks. What do you think?

What's good, what's not so good?

Any more suggestions? We would love to hear your feedback.

Music got heaps better lately...more familiar without being too mainstream.....

I agree with the above, though there are some 80s tunes that could be dropped.

I disagree...I think it is becoming too mainstream... I love the oddities and the true chill feel of the previous playlist...I think the new additions are disappointing... If I want to hear Darryl Braithewaite I'd listen to Mix or triple M... Some of the 80's tunes do seem really out of place.

I love the vibe that you started this station with. It was a real alternative to what else is out there on offer, please keep that unique approach and stay clear of the soft pop crap.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Anyone else got thoughts good or bad about
Certain songs?
Songs from certain era's?
genres/styles of songs being played?

All feedback is good feedback!

dear Music guy,

I must say that this is the best radio offering on the marketplace right now. It is a shame that only listeners with Digital radio/ internet can be only ones who enjoy it.

After 2 years working at DMG radio on vega where quite frankly the music was sh#!house it is refreshing to hear that DMG has finally given me a station to get excited about.

Music is excellent and very easy to listen to. Keep it up dont put in unwanted news and weather and boring announcers- I get that from the commercial stations. (tell the PD at vega to have a listen to Koffee- may help the ratings!)

Work it off man

Definitely the music that would have made Vega listenable... glad to have found Koffee on DAB as it really adds to the radio offering.

The liner announcements can be a bit jarring at times - not as smooth as the music. Glad to hear the Cure and Groove Armada this afternoon...

I really liked your music when I bought a digital radio a couple of months ago, but I think you're playing too much conventional pop now, and
flogging some decent songs to death with very high rotation.

And some of the '80s stuff is terrible - Men At Work, for Christ's sake!

I'm not a fan of the new additions to the playlist either.

Don't know what the Genre would be that I want to hear but I love the strange stuff that I heard on Koffee like that French dude Seu Jorge singing Rebel Rebel. What a great track and no other radio station is treating us to these little pieces of gold.

I'd like to hear artists like Raul Midon, Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Kid Loco, Throw in some Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Marvin Gaye, Marlena Shaw, Billie Paul, James Brown.
If you need Australian Artists some of Katie Noonans stuff is the sweetest sounds I've ever heard and Vince Jones is awesome. and Lior is great.

If you need an influence Listen Giles Petersons Brownswood Basement specials, they are sweet chill musical heaven.

Please just get back to your original direction it was so great I loved it. Now Koffee is starting to blend into the mundane with the rest of Australian music radio, Please dare to keep being different

Lately the playlist on Koffee's been too mainstream and too repetitive. I love it when you play new / less-often-heard Aussie artists. It doesn't really matter about what era or genre is played, more important is to play MORE VARIETY to keep us going through the day & provide alternative to boring playlists of MIX and Vega & WS,etc.
Please play artists like Little Birdy (songs: Brother, Hairdo ), Josh Pyke (The Summer, etc) , The Temper Trap (Love Lost, Down River), Whitlams (Charlie No.2, No Aphrodisiac), Lisa Mitchell (Coin Laundry, Stevie), Bertie Blackman, Sarah Blasko (All i want, We Wont Run,..), Sparkadia, Katie Noonan, Bob Evans (Power Of Speech, Brother O Brother, Dont You Think Its Time,..) Missy Higgins (Sound Of White..), Gosling, Angus & Julia Stone, etc.
I used to rave about this station a lot more to friends/relations but not so often now.
Anyway, you're still much better than the commercial alternatives. Thanks!

Thanks for all your feedback guys, i check this daily. Every day i make changes to the mix to try and get the right blend of song for everyone.

Some songs I add & keep, some I add & then kill if they dont sound right. All your thoughts are helpful.

Keep it coming, and i will keep working on it for you.

I must say I like ocelot's suggestions.

I enjoyed the 'unique' Koffee format before Xmas, but now it's starting to sound like a 'Gold FM lite'.

Dare I say, when listening for music, I'm starting to lean to Magic now (and I'm only 28!) - mainly for the 'variety' (Songs that I haven't heard in ages even if i don't know them).

I got sick of Gold, MMM and Vega because it was 'predictable'. When I first found Koffee I thought - this is cool something different.

However the music is now going the wrong way

I disagree with workitoff though - we do need news and announcers to make it 'feel' like a radio station then just an Ipod.

That said, not news in the traditional sense. If you can 'experiment' with the music, we not 'experiment' with the news and try and come up with something different?

I have been listerning to Koffee since they started while I lived in Melb. The music has changed a little but it is still much better than the commercial rivals such as MMM, Mix and Fox. At least you can listern to this station without all of the commercials and announcers trying to be better than anyone else. Keep up the great work and I will continue to listern on the Net in NZ.

And thanks for the Radiohead and Alex Lloyd tracks!

Bail Me Out is my favourite Pete Murray track....what a track!

I saw a video on rage a few weeks ago, a song called "Tore My Heart Out" by an Aussie girl called Mama Kin.
This song was brilliant.
Should be great for koffee.

What a great mix of music tonight: "The Scientist" by Coldplay, "I'm not in love" by 10cc, plus Josh Pyke, Norah Jones, John, Mayer, Lisa Mitchell & Sarah Blasko. Also that "I Remember" song is fantastic
Keep mixing it up!

I like the cafe mix, less mainstream and the 80's are OK but not too much. Keep up the good work.
Anyway I can get the song title in my streaming player. Seems to stay with the first song when I open

We are working furiously to fix the Now Playing to workbetter. We hope to have this fixed soon.

Thanks for all your feedback. I read it all & I have made a few changes to try & satisfy as many people as possible. The 80's music is the big feedback point it seems.
And also looking at the mix of commercial mainstream vs cool & underground artists.

great suggestions & thoughts Crozza & Ocelot

For now we are still leaning towards no announcers as the format is really about Chilling to music you can listen to. With as few interruptions as possible.

keep your thoughts coming - much appreciated

Keep it true to the genre, chiilout type music, if I want mainstream, there are enough stations already. It's great to hear stuff the other stations don't play, eg Bent, Goldfrapp, Groove Armada, Jori Hukkonen. It's the genre, and mood. Look at Ku De Ta, they find some great stuff to fill their slot, you won't fidn them on Vega, MMM, etc. If you need to experiment, maybe programmed slots so I know when to listen in. Keep up the good work, have converted many friends to DAB and Koffee.

fkn John Mayer. i'm instantly on 102.3. he may say some amusing things but his music is bland, banal and just uninteresting. my take was you were going for interesting music. say no to Mayer!!

Totally agree with tjforde re John Mayer: BLAND! Mix 101.1 has him covered, which is why I don't listen to them! Also agree with Crozzaand Ocelot re too much mainstream stuff sometimes, but apart from that, really loving Koffee and spreading the word!

How about some 90's stuff like Lamb (Gorecki), Olive (You're not alone), Portishead (Glory Box), more Radiohead, James (Getting away with it). Try and get a hold of Stereophonics doing a live version of Heart of gold. How about some Smiths?! Diana Krall does a great version of The look of Love. etc...

Lisa Mitchell is also over-rated for mine! The whole "cutesy" thing in her voice is so annoying!

"Breathe Me" by Sia. "Midnight train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips...
