The Grammy Awards have turned into a bittersweet victory for Taylor Swift. While she walked away with four awards, her performance at the event which saw her duet with Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks, has been widely criticized for being less than perfect.

Not to fear, however, as Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson has stepped in to defend Swift, and ask the most important question - what's all the fuss about?

Writing a note on Facebook, Manson has defended Swift's performance, and her position in the music market, in spectacular fashion.

Manson wrote:
"I have absolutely no idea why I am even bothering to write about Taylor Swift's so called Grammy controversy because I had no idea I even gave a shit until I had an argument about it this morning whilst walking the dog .......

But can I just say for the record that Taylor Swift is a VERY young girl who happens to be exceedingly talented at songwriting and as a result of this, has launched FOR HERSELF a blindingly successful recording career.

I am sure the fact that she is young, pretty, articulate and seemingly sweet is a rather difficult pill for some to swallow and the fact that she ISN'T the best singer in the world drives some critics and more accomplished singers to judge her harshly.

However I would just like to state for the record that the fact that she writes her own songs, has a point of view , plays an instrument and dresses up like a sugar plum fairy is exactly WHY she can get away with not having to sing other peoples songs like a perfectly programmed automaton.

She drew her own door and walked right through it.

We should applaud her balls for bucking the system.

That's what artists are supposed to do."

We're siding with Team Swift.
