The National Gallery of Victoria will farewell summer with a gourmet barbeque and a concert showcasing some of Melbourne's finest bands.

Head along to NGV on February 28 to catch Henry Wagons, Beaches, Crayon Fields and Ned Collette + Wirewalker performing live, walk amongst some of Ron Mueck's hyperreal sculptures and grab a snag off the barbie. Perfect? We think so too.

Mueck's sculpture work is world renowned, but perhaps it was his work on the David Bowie film 'The Labyrinth' that brought most attention to his art. Mueck's hyperreal sculptures reproduce every detail of the human body, however he manipulates the scale of each peace for maximum effect.

The exhibition is open from 1pm til 9pm, promising all the chance to celebrate the end of summer. The event will proceed rain, hail or shine.
