Music’s favourite 2-D band Gorillaz have just confirmed their very first tour Down Under this December.
The news comes just days after heavy rumours and a mysterious and cryptic Tweet made by bassist Murdoc Niccals.
The band’s set to kick off the Australian debut in Perth on December 6 before making their way around the country playing arena stages in every city, eventually wrapping up in Brisbane on December 19.
The ever-expanding British virtual act's 2010 delivery Plastic Beach debuted at the top of the Australian charts and reached position two in the U.S. and across the U.K.
In addition to releasing a highly acclaimed third record this year, the band’s also been busy headlining major international festivals including Coachella and Glastonbury.
Dreamt up by music guru Damon Albarn and animator Jamie Hewlitt, Gorillaz is a multi-genre quartet includes the flighty and enigmatic singer/keyboardist 2-D, the mysterious and irreverent bassist and the brains of the operation Murdoc, 10-year-old Japanese martial arts expert and guitar wiz Noodle and the eloquent yet unstable Brooklyn-bred drummer Russel Hobbs.
Every Gorillaz album has been a wild journey and their live shows are expected to be no different.
Set to reel off a variety of tracks spanning all three albums, (Gorillaz, Demon Days and Plastic Beach) this epic arena tour will feature a dynamic multi-media production including video animation, artwork and film – or as Murdoc says “A phantasmagoria of sounds, colours and assaults on the senses.”
Exclusive fan club pre-sale offers will be available.
